Sati Pasala Bundoora held the sixth session at Nick Ascenzo Community Centre, 2 Boronia Avenue, Thomastown, 3074 VIC, Australia on Sunday the 13th January, 2019 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.
Majority of the 22 children participated at the session were under 10 years old and the following segments were covered in the session.
- Understanding Mindfulness (S1): Report of a mindful-day by a young girl from Balangoda was introduced to the group. Following that a conversation was initiated to emphasize the main points in that report such as how to be mindful in doing daily activities, what techniques can be applied in doing so and how to report your experience effectively.
A video clip on ‘Mindful Eating’ was shown.
- Guided Practice (S2): Being a warm day both mindful walking and sitting were practiced indoors.
- Mindful game (S3): The game ‘Touch, Feel and Guess’ based on tactile sensations was played inside in groups of four.
- Reporting experiences (S4): Children’s experience on mindful walking, mindful sitting and mindful game was brought up in the discussion. One girl submitted an essay of on ‘Mindfulness’. The importance of reporting their own experience is further emphasized and a handout was distributed among children to report on their experience.
