Sati Pasala Bundoora held the sixteenth session at Nick Ascenzo Community Centre, 2 Boronia Avenue, Thomastown, 3074 VIC, Australia on Sunday the 10th November 2019 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.
Altogether 25 children participated in the session and the majority of them were 12 years and under.
- Understanding Mindfulness (S1): Initially a conversation was opened up to discuss children’s understanding on confidence. Children contributed to the discussion by telling their own experience where they have been confident or non-confident in real life situations. Then different aspects of confidence; overconfidence and lack of confidence were introduced to the group by a short presentation. A discussion on fake confidence and true confidence was brought up in the end emphasizing how mindfulness can help in understanding one’s true potential.
- Guided Practice (S2): Mindful walking was practiced outside and mindful sitting was practiced indoors.
- Mindful game (S3): Thegame‘March & Stop’ was played inside the hall. Children enjoyed performing it. Initially, their focus was not very sharp and they mixed up with the command swap. Towards the end almost everyone was performing it very mindfully.
- Reporting experiences (S4): Children’s experience on mindful walking, mindful sitting and mindful game was brought up in the discussion.
