In a historic and unprecedented move, the Sati Pasala Mindfulness Facilitators team and officials of the Ministry of Education, left for Jaffna and Vavuniya on the morning of the 20th September. The Northern Province five districts (Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mulativu, Mannar, Vavuniya) with 22 National Schools, had two Sati Pasala programs arranged in two locations – Jaffna & Vavuniya towns. The first Tamil medium program held on the 21st September in Jaffna had 90 teachers & Principals participating together with the Northern Province Education ministry officials. On the 22nd September in Vavuniya about 120 teachers & Principals participated. Mr Mutu Sivagnanam (Sati Pasala Stakeholders Committee member) and Ms Sepali Subasinghe (Sati Pasala Volunteer) assisted the teams with Mr Uthayakumar (Provincial Education Director) to organize the event.
This is the first time that the Sati Pasala video in Tamil was screened at a program, and the facilitation of Mindfulness sitting & walking were described & interpreted in Tamil by Mr Sivagnanam & Sepali. The Q & A sessions were conducted in Tamil with necessary clarifications given by the Sati Pasala team members. The lively engagement in the Mindfulness programs by all the teachers and Principals was very encouraging.
