New Hopewell & Wikiliya Team has organized a Sati Pasala programme at Srilanka biggest Elders’ home – Shanthi Sewana Elders’ Home, Anuradhapura on 27th January 2019. In elders’ homes loneliness, depression, and anxiety are considerable risk factors for residents. The objective of this program is to help the helpless poor elders by relaxing their minds. Mindfulness may help elders to find peace within themselves with daily practice. Also, mindfulness for the elders is an encouraging intervention that is well worth introducing.
There are lots of benefits of this Sathi Pasala such as mind relaxation, reduce their pains, be healthy, may improve their sleep, sharpens and focuses the mind for the elderly mothers and fathers.
The programme was conducted by Ven. Kurunegala Sobhitha Thero. Before starting the programme the team has visited all wards and introduce Sathi Pasala and explain how to conduct it. The elders who can walk participated in the hall. We connected sounds to each ward. Then the mothers and fathers who cannot walk can here Sathi Pasala programme and engage with it. It was one of the very sensitive programmes.
